Stewards of GoodPosted on December 20, 2016 by Ben Cooper
In Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus tells us the story of three servants who took very different approaches in how they chose to apply the talents that had been given them. He made it clear in verse 29 that “To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given.” As followers of Jesus, we are invited to join him in taking what has been provided and cultivating growth. As we are faithful, we will be entrusted with even more to steward.
We believe that business has incredible power to do good, as expressed in the Stewardship Bible:
“Corporate philanthropy has accomplished much good. No doubt, it should continue vigorously–but not at the expense of a company’s more fundamental and important social responsibilities to create wealth, to provide good jobs, and to offer products and services that serve genuine human needs. These are the principal objectives of businesses as specialized associations, and it is in these areas that we recognize the tremendous good that business does.”
We also believe that profits and impact are not mutually exclusive. When we invest in the right high-capacity leader, that business will have the greatest potential to bring both Kingdom and financial returns. At FUEL, our mission is to identify those leaders and walk with them over the long haul so that we maximize this impact together.
